What is the Perfex test?
 
The Perfex test is a multitasking test meant to assess a candidate’s dispatching skills:   Writing, reading, memory, responsiveness, map reading, listening, dexterity and multitasking.  The test involves an answer key on which the candidate will handwrite their answers and a multitasking machine on which the candidate will move objects around.  All instructions and timing are delivered via a cassette tape that is pre-recorded.  Once the cassette tape begins playing, it continues without stopping for the duration of the test.  The test is typically 45 minutes long.  The instructions written on the “mock perfex test” do not actually show up on the test.  Instead, the instructions are read once on the taped recording.  All answers are recorded using a pencil. 
 
There are many versions of the Perfex test, but the setup and types of questions are typically the same.  The system setup looks like the photo below.
